Mirrorless Battle: OM-D vs GH3 vs X-E1 by Jordan Steele

This should be a fun comparison. I have the pleasure of having three of the best mirrorless cameras around in my possession right now: a newly acquired Fuji X-E1 with 35mm f/1.4, my trusty Olympus OM-D E-M5 and the Panasonic GH3, fresh into my hands for review.

  1. Very interesting article. Thanks!. I have the Panasonic Leica 25 and love it! So it was fun to see it put to the test as it were and having it come out on top. I also enjoy working with the om-d. It was wonderful NOT to have to have a hefty system in order to get great shots!

    1. Ya, the new “M”s are good, but not great….but, these DXO scores are only a limited part of the truth… the Leica’s have a very high detail capture because of no AA filter… Leica Fans “are” sharpness/detail geeks, more than Dynamic Range and bits captured.

  2. As best I can decern, it seems the OM-D and the GH3 are neck to neck in high ISO performance and the Fuji is a stop or more better. However, in many situations the OM-D’s incredible image stablization easily allows me to shoot 2-3 stops slower using manual focus, fast glass. For me, a decided advantage. That being said, I am still planning to buy a XE-1 in the future.
