About my Film Gear

Back when I was 15 years old, my Dad bought me my 1st 35mm camera and build a Darkroom so he could teach me a profession he had before he was married.  He was a Wedding Photographer, and used a 4×5 Speed Graphic. can you imagine lugging a 4×5 with 50-100 film holders? (each holder holds 2 4×5 exposures). My film gear is bit more practical.

I own a Nikon FE, with a selections of Nikon lenses.

  • Nikon 24mm f/2.8 AiS
  • Nikon 50mm f/1.8 Ais Long Nose (317xxxx)
  • Nikon 55mm f/3.5 Micro (last non-Ai version)
  • Nikon 100-300mm f/5.6 Macro AiS

My most used are the 24mm, 50mm, and 55mm micro though. And the Nikon FE/24mm is my Street Photography Film combo. While, the Olympus OMD E-M5/14mm is my Digital Street Photography combo. I tend to like the wider angle field of view over a 50mm lens for street photography.

I like to shoot 400 ISO film at, or around 400 ISO. My film right now is Ilford HP5 developed in Rodinal 1:25, and 1:50. Although, I will go back to Ilford Delta Pro 400 because it has a much tighter grain and better contrast when developed in Rodinal, that does not soften the edges of the grain. But, Rodinal can increase grain when pushing the film. (Do to longer developer times) So, Ilford Delta Pro 400 will push a bit better.

I will use this section for my Film Posts to give some variety in what you read. And, I’d bet, many of you also shoot film, so, I hope you will enjoy this area also.
